Part of Mt Elgon forest to be
degazetted

The Government will soon de-gazette part of Mt Elgon forest to
expand the controversial Chebyuk settlement in Mt Elgon District.
Western PC Abdul Mwasserah said the move was part of the
reconstruction initiated by the Government after security
personnel restored peace.
He said various authorities, at the national level, were handling
the matter to ensure land allocation controversies do not recur
during the scheme’s phase three re-allocations.
