Ki-moon arrives Friday to boost
mediation effort

Ban Ki-moon arrives Friday in Nairobi to add international
pressure on the two sides in the political crisis to agree on a
peaceful solution.
Mr Ki-moon is expected to hold talks with President Kibaki and ODM
leader Raila Odinga in what is seen to be a move to bolster
mediation efforts led by his predecessor Kofi Annan.
The UN boss has been at the African Union meeting in Ethiopia.
On Thursday, Mr Ki-moon said the duty of ending the violence and
restoring the country to stability lay with President Kibaki and
Mr Odinga.
President Kibaki was also in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, for the
African Heads of State meeting.
A UN official in Kenya said Mr Ki-moon is visiting the country to
give support to the mediation efforts by Panel of African Eminent
Persons led by Mr Annan.
Mr Annan has succeeded in bringing together President Kibaki and
Mr Odinga and Thursday chaired the first talks of the National
Dialogue committee drawing members from the Government and ODM
side.
