Rumours persist on Ugandan
soldiers

Rumours that Ugandan soldiers are in Kenya persist.
On Friday, some Eldoret town residents mounted a ‘checkpoint’
following reports of aliens being transported to Burnt Forest in
Molo.
The residents blocked the Eldoret –Nakuru highway and inspected
all vehicles.
One of the vehicles that they stopped was a Land Rover with
Government registration number, GK-A 374 D.
The vehicle was carrying GSU personnel, but residents demanded
that they identify themselves.
A senior GSU officer from Nairobi, helped the residents establish
that the vehicle had no Ugandan soldiers.
Staffing officer operations, from GSU headquarters, Mr Anthony
Kamitu, helped in identification at Cheptiret trading centre,
15kms from Eldoret town.
It was established that the officers are based at the Burnt Forest
GSU camp.
"There have been rumours that there are Ugandan soldiers in Kenya.
You should stop the propaganda," Kamitu said.
The rumours were heightened after some of the officers who raided
the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in the town on Thursday,
reportedly could not speak Kiswahili.
Meanwhile, the local market remained closed for the second week,
with residents saying prices of commodities were too high and out
of reach for many.
