Kenya tired of foreign
missions' threats
Dennis Itumbi, AfricaNews reporter in Nairobi, Kenya
Kenyan government spokesman Alfred Mutua broke down during an
international Press conference at the Kenyatta International
Conference Centre (KICC) Thursday.
Mutua who told off foreign missions on their threat to withhold
aid to the nation, wept when he was asked to comment on Raila
Odinga's Thursday morning interview with BBC.
In the interview Odinga justified the burning of a church in
Eldoret saying that the attackers were merely responding after a
group that had fought them sought refuge in the church that saw 25
people burn to death among them 17 children on New Year day.
Mutua in response said, "there can never be justification for such
murder, what do children have to do with electoral disputes? .....
that is so bad, it so bad...Mutua said as he visibly fought more
tears from streaming down"
He also asked all civil servants to lead the way in reporting to
duty as normal.
On foreign missions Mutua said, "Kenya is a sovereign state and we
do not necessarily need aid, we can sustain ourselves within our
economy"
