Ogiek Elder Murdered
The latest victim in the continuing communal conflict in Mt. Elgon
area is former Chief Tenderesi Temoi aged 83 years.
A senior Ogiek elder, Mr. Temoi was kidnapped metres away from the
local provincial administrators office in Kopsiro Dision, Mt.
Elgon district. He had met with the provincial administrator early
that morning.
The kidnappers, alleged to be members of the outlawed Sabaot Land
Defence Force (SLDF) are believed to have been monitoring the
movement of the elder and suspected he might have given secret
information to the provincial administrator.
It is alledge that Mr. Temoi was tortured and had his throat slit,
killing him instantly. He body was found minutes after the brutal
murder by group of people fleeing the escalating tensions.
Mr Temoi leaves 4 widows, 30 children and over 100 grand children.

As our president Emilio Kibaki still remains in statehouse and
Ministers enjoying staying in Nairobi, the Ogiek of Mt. Elgon are
mourning the recent murder of former chief Tenderesi Temoi aged 83
years.
The elder was kidnapped 500 metres
from the District officer's office in Kopsiro Dision of Mt. Elgon,
after a successful meeting with the officer early morning.
The kidnappers who are alleged are from the Sabaot Land Defence
Force (SLDF) are believed to have been monitoring the old man
movement and suspected he might have gave secret information to
the D.O.
According to the close source, the late was tied in hands, legs
and attached to a tree before being tortured to give information
and later slaughtered in the neck to death.
He was found some minutes later by group of people who were moving
away from their home due to the high tension escalating.
He will be buried on Wednesday. the late has left behind 4 widows,
30 children and 100 grand children.
