Intl., which maintains this site on behalf of all Ogiek
people, has created this privacy statement in order to demonstrate
our firm commitment to privacy. We respect our visitors' interests
in the sensitive issues of human rights and it is our policy not
to exploit it.
We do not use cookies
on our site. Our sole source of information about visitors comes
from either voluntarily provided personal
information or from our monthly report of server statistics.
The report reveals such information as the number of visitors from
each domain, the number of successful requests for its Web pages,
and how many hits are made to each page. The report contains only
aggregate information; no information about specific individuals
is ever recorded or stored.
ECOTERRA gets copies
of action alerts sent from its site in order to see which
countries are best represented in particular campaigns. This helps
the Ogiek and us to plan future campaigns. All information
provided on these forms, including names and e-mail addresses, is
provided optionally by the visitor. ECOTERRA does not use this
information gained for any other purpose.
This site does
contain many links to other sites. ECOTERRA is not responsible for the
content or privacy practices of those sites.
Personal
information
ECOTERRA Intl.
maintains a database of e-mail addresses of individuals who
request ECOTERRA e-mail publications. All information in this
database (such as name and e-mail address) was voluntarily
provided by visitors and will be removed at their request at any
time. This individual information will not be sold, leased,
revealed, or distributed to third parties in any way.
In coordinating
campaigns with other human rights organizations, ECOTERRA Intl.
may occasionally find it useful to share with these groups broad
demographic information about subscribers (such as the number of
subscribers and the countries they come from). However, ECOTERRA
Intl. will never provide specific information about its
subscribers to them or other parties, public or private, including
information on any other information given to us voluntarily and
confidentially.

Our site provides
users the opportunity to opt out of receiving communications from
the Ogiek, us and our partners at the point where we request
information about the visitor.
